How to Record Skype Audio and Video Calls - Use this Easy Skype Recorder
If you're one of the millions of people using Skype to make free or
cheap international phone calls, you've probably wanted to be able to
record those calls at one time or another. Recording Skype calls on your PC is super easy to do. This article gives you step-by-step instructions for recording
Skype calls using Replay Telecorder for Skype,
an easy to use, video/audio recording program. There's also a video at the end of the article.
For this, you'll need to install Skype. To make audio calls you will need a microphone and for video calls you will need a webcam. If your PC doesn't have an built-in mic or webcam you can find some great options here.
Note: Recording telephone calls without the consent or knowledge
of both parties may be illegal in some states or countries. It's recommended
to always let people know when they are being recorded.
When you open Replay Telecorder for Skype in demo mode it looks like this:
Click Set Recording Folder and choose where you want your recordings to be saved.
Before you start recording your Skype conversations you may want to adjust your Skype settings to ensure you get the best possible video/audio quality. Just go to Skype/Tools/Options and you will see this:
Adjust your audio settings (I found my calls worked best when I unchecked the boxes marked "Automatically adjust ...settings" for both microphone and speaker and set my own recording levels but you need to determine what works best for your PC set-up). And don't forget to adjust your video settings too.
Then place a Skype call. Once the call is placed you can decide how you want to record it. Replay Telecorder for Skype has a drop down menu that lets you pick from six different recording options:
Audio Only, Picture-in-Picture, Side-by-Side, Local Webcam Only, Remove Webcam Only or Two Separate Files.
Choose your desired recording option and then click Record.
Once your call is finished clicked Stop. The recordings will display in the user interface like this:
To playback your file just right click on the file and choose Play or double click on the file. You can also go to "Open Recording Folder" and access your recordings that way.
